A group of approximately 50 witnessed the unveiling of the new AIBA logo at Slate Street Cafe April 30, 2007. Steve Wedeen of Vaughn Wedeen Creative talked about the logo and the thinking behind its development. He discussed AIBA branding, emphasizing that the organization really controls its own branding through the individual outreach of members to new prospects.
According to Wedeen, some of the particular features of the logo included the following:
- The lowercase "i" stands out, in both color and style from the rest of the typeface
- The typeface is ease to read
- This typeface has a personality as not all of the lines are perfectly straight, or evenly matched
- The logo with it's slightly oval shape has movement
- It is clean and clear
Roby Wallace, past AIBA president, commented that the Board was enthusiastic about the logo and had worked with the agency through a number of stages during design and production.
Myra Ghattes of Slate Street discussed new offerings at the restaurant, including the wine tasting on the last Thursday and the first Tuesday of each month. Bouquets from Wildflower Wrangler were offered as door prizes to those in attendance.
