AIBA members went on a tour to check out the Albuquerque Rail Yards and found out more about planned development there. We went Friday, March 7th and were amazed at the scale of the buildings, especially those used as repair shops for trains. And we were pleasantly surprised by their beauty. They are structures of steel and glass that have a cathedral-like quality. We're lucky that the City of Albquerque and the Wheels Museum bought that property and are giving thoughtful consideration to how to both preserve it and put it to use again.
Special thanks to Leba Freed, Chair of the Wheels Museum, and John Chester and Doyle Caton, members of the board of the Wheels Museum, for the tour.
